Adult males are blackish with a soft bronze sheen. The wings appear purplish blue at close range. Note the bright re eye. These birds are “brood parasites”—they lay their eggs in other birds’ nests, leaving the hosts to provide all the care for their young. Will visit yard bird feeders.
