There were many Gilded Flickers among giant saguaro and giant cardon cactus at the gardens in front of the old Clb Med to the North of San Carlos. They were nesting there together with Gila Woodpeckers. Gilded Flickers are pale brown and gray woodpeckers with a large black crescent on their chests, bold spots on the breast, finely barred back, and cinnamon crown. The white rump is prominent in flight. Flight feathers and underwing coverts are vivid yellow; males have prominent red mark under the eye.
