Sabino Canyon, located on the northeastern edge of Tucson as part of Coronado National Forest, is one of the city’s most popular hiking destinations. Sabino Canyon is just a five minute drive from where I live, so I have spent many mornings photographing birds in this beautiful National Park. It is one of the premier natural areas in southern Arizona located at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains at the far end of Sunrise Drive. If you are not familiar with Sabino Canyon, stop in at the visitor center and pick up a map. There is also a shuttle; you can get off at one of the many stops on its route up the canyon.
You'll encounter other animals at Sabino. Pictured below: Mule Deer, Coati and Ground Squirrel.
